Cyprus pursues enhanced efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for business appeal – Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of Cyprus

In the presence of international and local professionals, experts from various sectors, discussed the tech ecosystem of Cyprus, the perks of relocating and working here, as well as the areas of improvement. The 2nd Cyprus: The New Global Tech & Innovation Hub Summit was held on 26th April at Parklane Hotel, Limassol and provided an excellent opportunity to network, exchange ideas and explore new business perspectives and opportunities for technology companies exploring the possibility of relocating their operations to Cyprus.

In an introductory speech the Chairperson of the Summit, Marios Tannoussis, CEO of Invest Cyprus, stated that Cyprus is the ideal hub for tech companies, being a bridge between Europe, Asia and Africa, and despite its proximity to the Middle East, the island has not been affected by the turmoil, instead emerging as the most solid option in the region.

Nicodemos Damianou, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, joined by Haris Pistos, Director of International Banking at the Bank of Cyprus, and Demetris Skourides, Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation, and Technology of the Republic of Cyprus, convened to address Cyprus's burgeoning role as a regional tech hub.“With the digitalization of governmental services, Cyprus aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility, further strengthening its appeal as a destination for businesses and entrepreneurs” Mr. Damianou, the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy stated.

Following the exploration of Cyprus's tech landscape, the event transitioned into a panel discussion themed "Sunshine and Success – Embracing Work-Life Bliss in Cyprus." Marianna Hadjiandoniou, Executive Vice President of Energame, underscored the adaptability of the tech sector in accommodating the preferences of Gen-Z. “Gen-Z operates in a distinctly different manner from previous generations. Hence, it's crucial to offer them flexibility," Marianna emphasized. She also highlighted the advantages of relocating to Cyprus, including its laid-back lifestyle and safety. Moreover, Marianna acknowledged the government's collaboration with the private sector in streamlining processes and setting initiatives like the ones of Tech Island, and expressed gratitude for their support.
