CMC hosts Get Together to introduce new Emissions Trading System Directive

The Cyprus Marine Club (CMC) hosted a Get Together with a presentation from Filippos Filippou, Environmental Officer from the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, on 19 April.

The presentation provided a detailed examination of the significant components introduced by the new Emissions Trading System Directive.

It comprehensively outlined the stakeholders impacted by the Directive, with a particular focus on the responsibilities that shipping companies will need to undertake. The session included a clear timeline of the compliance year and delved into specific challenges posed by the Directive, offering essential insights for industry compliance.

Following the presentation, there was an interactive Q&A session where attendees engaged directly with the speakers. This segment proved invaluable as it allowed for additional clarification on the new regulations, facilitating a deeper understanding of the Directive’s implications. This dialogue between the speakers and the audience highlighted the community's keen interest in achieving environmental and regulatory goals.

In his opening statement, CMC President Capt. Eberhard Koch welcomed new Members of the Cyprus Marine Club and announced a Gala Dinner that will be held to mark the CMC’s 25th Anniversary on 24 May at Amara Hotel.
