Cyprus present at the World Theater Day celebrations in China

The Director of the Cyprus Center of the International Theater Institute Christos Georgiou will be one of the 18 speakers at a panel discussion in the framework of the World Theater Day celebrations taking place in Langfang, China from 27- 29 March.

A press release said that Georgiou will participate in a panel under the title 'Theatre: a Poetic Medium Weaving the Tapestry of Diverse Cultures'. He has also been invited by the organizers to share his views and expertise as general coordinator of the International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama, in the context of the goal of the International Theater Institute to resume the Theatre of Nations, which was successfully performed from 1957 until 2008.

The Cypriot participation and representation is taking place with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Culture under the 'Culture' Program.

The three-day celebrations include a conference, panel discussions, workshops, performances and other related artistic activities.

The Executive Board of the International Theater Institute has chosen the Norwegian author, playwright and translator Jon Fosse, who in 2023 received the Nobel Prize for Literature, to write this year’s message for World Theater Day.
