CMMI at EURONAVAL in Paris

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute’s (CMMI) CEO, Zacharias Siokouros, and Marine Sciences Research Director Daniel Hayes attended EURONAVAL, the world naval defence exhibition, last month in Paris, where they met with partners and potential partners.

According to CMMI, insightful discussions took place with regards to the role of Arkeocean’s AUVs in studying and monitoring Marine Protected Areas and CMMI’s 3D printed reefs through its co-development project ‘EONIOS’.

EONIOS is a state-of-the-art micro-AUV swarm system, designed to explore and protect the oceans. Featuring AUV docking stations integrated into nature-based artificial reefs, with surface buoys for solar power, EONIOS aims to enhance marine ecosystems and preserve biodiversity.

Moreover, some interesting encounters took place with companies developing technology related to one of CMMI’s missions “to protect and restore marine and coastal ecosystems and biodiversity”, including FLANQ with its autonomous vehicle systems, and Satways Ltd with its experience in command and control for civil protection.
