Christos Patsalides LLC and Kakkouras and Panayides LLC join forces

Lawyers Christos Patsalides, founder of Christos Patsalides LLC, and Panayiotis Kakkouras, founder of Kakkouras and Panayides LLC, have decided to merge their law firms under the umbrella of Christos Patsalides LLC Advocates and Legal Consultants.

According to Patsalides, the goal of this merger is to expand the firm’s size and strengthen its specialisations across various fields, enabling them to handle more complex and large-scale cases and broaden the range of services offered to a wider client base. Following the merger, Christos Patsalides remains the Managing Partner of Christos Patsalides LLC, while Panagiotis Kakkouras has assumed the role of Senior Partner.

Reasons for the Merger

In an interview with InBusinessNews, Patsalides outlined two main reasons for the merger:

Firstly, he explained that both he and Kakkouras believe the evolving legal profession requires greater specialisation, and therefore, larger firms. "We both felt that the conditions in the legal profession have changed—it’s certainly not the same as it was twenty or thirty years ago when we established our firms. We reached a point where we felt that, through a stronger and larger organisation with more experienced personnel, we could provide higher-quality services and engage with more and larger clients, who may have previously been hesitant to collaborate with us due to our size,” he said.

The second reason, he noted, is more personal: "Panayiotis and I have had a longstanding friendship. We know each other very well, and our friendship over the years has been deep and strong. We both have complete confidence in each other’s character and professionalism."

"For this reason, we decided to proceed with the merger of our firms," he added, clarifying that the decision was not solely for business or professional reasons; there was also a significant human factor.

He added, "We would not have taken such a significant step with someone whose character, behaviour, and legal competence we were unfamiliar with".

Implications of the Merger

Patsalides stated that, as part of the merger, Kakkouras's law firm has joined theirs under the Christos Patsalides LLC name, with Kakkouras as Senior Partner. The remaining staff from Kakkouras’s office have also joined and are now lawyer-associates within the expanded firm, which now incorporates both law firms.

Objective of the partnership

Regarding the purpose of this collaboration, Patsalides said, "The aim of this partnership is to strengthen and expand our law firm, as well as to enhance specialisation in various fields, enabling us to cover all legal matters comprehensively and professionally. Additionally, to tackle more demanding and larger cases, offer a broader and higher-quality range of services, and expand the scope of our services to a wider range of clients."

He also noted, "We combined our strengths to make both sides stronger, more competitive, and to give our lawyer-associates the opportunity to further specialise in areas of law that interest them, thereby enabling us to provide more reliable, better, and faster services."

It is worth noting that following the merger, Christos Patsalides LLC will employ and collaborate with approximately twenty lawyers.
