Emergency Exercise to take place at Larnaka Airport

Hermes Airports informs the public that an Emergency Exercise will take place at Larnaka Airport on Wednesday, 13 November 2024, according to the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation.

"The aim of the exercise, which is organized by Hermes Airports in collaboration with various state and private stakeholders operating at Larnaka Airport, is to enhance the level of preparedness of the responsible authorities involved during an aircraft incident on the ground. For the purposes of the exercise, an aircraft of an airline will be involved in the process," a relevant announcement said.

The exercise will commence at 12:30 and will be completed approximately at 13:30. It is noted that no flights are scheduled to/from Larnaka Airport during the exercise.

Among the airport stakeholders that will participate at the exercise are the Department of Civil Aviation, Fire Brigade, Police, Air Traffic Control Tower, Cyprus Airways and other companies.

"Hermes Airports would like to assure the public that there is absolutely no reason for concern, as this is part of an exercise during which procedures are simulated that would be applied in case of a real incident," the announcement concluded.
