Documentary "Winds of Change" to premiere in Cyprus

Olympian Sophia Papamichalopoulos and her team will hold the premiere of the documentary "Winds of Change" at the UN Chief Mission Residence in Cyprus on Tuesday, 15 October.

The documentary, which had its international premiere during the Olympic Games in Paris in July, tells the story of the historic circumnavigation of Cyprus. It follows the journey of a bi-communal group of young Cypriots who, inspired by the Olympic values and the power of sport, embarked on this effort to promote cooperation and reconciliation.

The screening is hosted by the United Nations in Cyprus, with the support of the French Embassy in Cyprus, at a location rich in symbolism for peace and collaboration. Representatives from both communities, diplomatic missions, athletes, and other important figures will be in attendance. Sophia Papamichalopoulos, the inspiration behind "Winds of Change," will also be present to share her experience and the vision behind the initiative.

The documentary offers a fresh perspective on the Cyprus issue, highlighting hope for reconciliation and peaceful coexistence through sport. Given the recent developments surrounding the Cyprus problem, the screening not only holds symbolic significance but also provides an alternative approach.
