Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Philippos Hadjizacharias resigns

The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Philippos Hadjizacharias has submitted his resignation to the President of the Republic.

Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeades will cover Hadjizacharias' duties until a new Deputy Minister is appointed.

Confirmation pf Hadjizacharias' leaving the position came following rumours that had been circulating since earlier in the day.

According to reports, Hadjizacharias cited personal reasons in his resignation letter, which was accepted by President Nikos Christodoulides.

He was also said to have been deeply annoyed by the “buzz” surrounding his name in recent days, concerning his alleged replacement as part of the reshuffle being considered highly likely. Due to the negative climate that had been created, he decided to leave the Government himself, sources suggest.
