CyGraduates National Survey aims to improve the link between Higher Education and the Labour Market

The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth’s Higher Education Directorate, within the context of its goal to connect Higher Education in Cyprus with the labour market, is implementing for, the second year in a row, the CyGraduates National Monitoring Survey of Higher Education Graduates.

The ‘Development of a National Graduate Tracking Mechanism and Design and Implementation of an Employers ' Skills Survey’ project was proposed as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Republic of Cyprus.

The CyGraduates survey

The CyGraduates survey aims to provide data on a longitudinal basis on the entry of Cyprus Higher Education graduates into the labor market, their study experiences, the skills they acquired as well as the interconnection of Higher Education Study Programs with the labor market. Based on the results of the research, Higher Education Institutions will be able to revise the content and teaching methodology of existing Study Programs as well as offer new Study Programs, so that graduates have the knowledge and skills that the labor market requires. The preliminary results of the first cycle of the survey in question have already been published with open access at the link https://skilltracking.highereducation.ac.cy/reports/

Who is participating in the second cycle of the CyGraduates survey

Participating in this second round of research are the following:

  • Graduates from all Higher Education Institutions of Cyprus
  • Graduates who graduated during the academic years 2017-2018 and 2021-2022
  • Graduates from Study Programs that led to the acquisition of one of the following Degrees: Certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma, Degree or Master's.
  • Graduates of all types of study (e.g. full-time, part-time, distance learning).
  • Graduates of all nationalities
  • Graduates who either live inside or outside Cyprus

Data Collection - Access to the questionnaire

During the period of January-March 2024, the data will be collected through an electronic questionnaire.

The questionnaire can be accessed via the project website https://skilltracking.highereducation.ac.cy/ or by using the personal link that has been sent by email or sms to all the graduates of the above academic years from the Institution of Higher Education from which they graduated. Completing the questionnaire takes 10-12 minutes. Upon completing the questionnaire, graduates will receive a small gift and also have the opportunity to participate in a raffle to win bigger prizes (air tickets, hotel accommodation and gift certificates).

The importance of the research

The contribution of Higher Education graduates to the CyGraduates survey is considered very important for the improvement of the education provided, the better matching of the skills acquired from Higher Education with the needs of the labor market and the formation of better employment prospects for Higher Education graduates in Cyprus.
