UCy announces second call for Yufe4Postdocs

University of Cyprus (UCy) has announced the second call for the Yufe4Postdocs (Y4P) programme, aimed at training future proof researchers, building bridges between academia and society.

Y4P is an ambitious training programme co-funded by Horizon Europe’s Marie Sklodowska-Curie programme. It is part of the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) Alliance, which brings together nine young research-intensive universities from across Europe. They are collaborating to contribute to a more competitive, innovative and united Europe.

It features a novel evaluation procedure based primarily on qualitative judgement and offers an attractive training including interactive stakeholder engagement seminars and a variety of joint transferable skills training sessions.

The YUFE universities announced two calls for postdoctoral research positions in all disciplines, with a project addressing one or more urban opportunities and challenges. Postdocs will carry out their projects anchored in a YUFE host university of their choice. They will define and develop their projects within YUFE focus areas: Sustainability; Digital Society, Citizens’ Wellbeing; and European Identity.

In total, 51 positions are offered for researchers appointed across nine universities: University of Cyprus, Maastricht University (Netherlands), Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Poland), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain), Universiteit Antwerpen (Belgium), University of Bremen (Germany), University of Eastern Finland, University of Essex (UK) and Uniri - University of Rijeka (Croatia).

Selected YUFE postdocs can conduct a research training project in a broad range of disciplines. The target audience of both calls are promising researchers that have obtained their PhD a maximum of 6 years before the call deadline.

The programme offers a number of benefits for postdoctoral researchers, including attractive employment conditions, including 36-month appointments; a three-pillar training programme on community engagement, stakeholder interaction, Open Science and Open Innovation; personalised supervision and career guidance; support from stakeholder organisations involved as Associated Partners. Six business organisations and ten city and regional councils will contribute to the training program; Implementation by an EU-wide, experienced consortium.
