Double warning for high temperature over the mountains and inland areas

The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber warning for extremely high temperatures on Thursday, 17 August. 

The warning is valid from 12.00 until 18.00. It says that the maximum temperature over the highest mountainous areas is expected to rise to around 34 degrees Celsius. 

It also issued an extreme high-temperature warning of yellow awareness level which is also valid from 12.00 until 18.00 on Thursday. It says that the maximum temperature over inland areas is expected to rise to around 41 degrees.

Meanwhile, the Forests Department issued a red warning for forest fires on Thursday. It says that the risk of forest fires is on 'red alert' and urges the public to be extremely careful and avoid actions and activities that may cause a fire. 

In case of fire, the public is urged to call immediately 1407 (Forests Department) or 112 (Fire Service).
