KIOS CoE is hiring a Research Associate

The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus is looking to recruit a Special Scientist for Research (Research Associate), focusing on Cybersecurity, for full-time employment.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct research under multiple EU-funded KIOS CoE projects, including the flagship KIOS CoE Teaming project, the ACTING project (https://acting-project.eu/) funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF), as well as national or industry-funded projects.
The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence is the largest research center at the University of Cyprus and in 2017 was upgraded to a European Research Center of Excellence through the KIOS CoE Teaming project. Currently, the Center employs more than 180 people who are supported by externally funded research and innovation projects. The KIOS CoE operates in a diverse environment as an equal opportunity employer.
“KIOS provides an inspiring environment for carrying out top level research and innovation in the area of Information and Communication Technologies, with emphasis on the Monitoring, Control and Security of Critical Infrastructures,” it said. “Such infrastructures include power and energy systems, water networks, transportation networks, telecommunication networks and emergency management and response. The Center instigates interdisciplinary interaction and promotes collaboration between industry, academia, and research organisations in high-tech areas of global importance.”

Qualifications and Experience
European Union citizenship is mandatory to issue a security clearance that is required for the EDF ACTING project, while candidates must hold a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution, a Doctorate degree or equivalent in the subject areas directly related to Information and Communication Technologies or Engineering and Technology; previous experience in Cybersecurity and especially with human aspects of Cybersecurity for raising awareness and/or developing cyber ranges will be considered an advantage; and previous experience in participation or technical management of EU or national funded research projects will be considered an advantage.
