The car brands dominating the first half of 2023

Saloon passenger car registrations surged in the first six months of 2023, reaching 17,600 and marking an increase of almost 25% compared to the corresponding period last year.

Used saloons still dominate with 57% compared to 43% occupied by new saloon car registrations.

Overall passenger saloon market

The registration of passenger saloon cars for private use reached 14,337 in the first half of 2023.

Toyota maintains the lead, with 2,786 registrations, with Mazda following, with 1,728 registrations.

Nissan ranks third, with 1,480 registrations, BMW is fourth (986), while Mercedes (956) completes the top five.

The list of private saloon registrations for the first half of the year also includes brands such as Kia (675), Volkswagen (657), Hyundai (499), Honda (464) and Suzuki (372).

New passenger saloon cars
In the first six months of 2023, the registrations of new private saloon cars stood at 6,326.

In this category, Toyota remains at the top, with 796 registrations, while Kia is a little further down, with 612 registrations. Volkswagen (510), BMW (487) and Hyundai (458) also follow.

From the sixth to the tenth place of the first brand registrations of new saloons are popular market brands such as Nissan (442), Mini (319), Mercedes (310), Audi (246) and Skoda (239).

Used saloon passenger cars

The registrations of used passenger saloons for private use in the period January – June 2023 amounted to a total of 8,011.

Toyota holds the lead in this category as well, with 1,990 registrations, while Mazda comes slightly below, with 1,661 registrations.

Third is Nissan (1,038), fourth is Mercedes (646), and fifth is BMW (499).

The list of used saloon registrations in the first half also includes Honda (401), Suzuki (296), Land Rover (152), Mitsubishi (150), and Volkswagen (147).
