RSM Cyprus: A proud supporter of the 8th Cyprus Professional Services Conference

RSM Cyprus was a proud supporter of the 8th Cyprus Professional Services Conference held in Nicosia on 29 June, 2023.

The Professional Services Conference is among the most prominent ones in the country since it aims to bring together distinguished industry experts and thought leaders from the Cyprus professional services sector to discuss and explore the trends and challenges the industry is facing. This year's subjects of discussion were the economic sanctions and the implications, Cyprus as an international business centre and the Cyprus Accounting and Legal Firms' future.

At the conference, Mr George Themistocleous, Managing Partner, CEO of RSM Cyprus, was invited to participate as a panellist in an interesting conversation on the future of the Cyprus Accounting profession.

In the panel discussion, the CEOs of reputable firms in the industry touched on issues concerning the evolution of assurance, tax and advisory services, highlighting matters of compliance, technology, acquisition and retention of talent.

When Mr Themistocleous was asked to provide his insightful perspective on the question "If technology is making human skills more important and irreplaceable", he responded that "It is of immense importance to have talents that can extract from the massive data received the correct information; therefore, we need to embrace technological advancement in our profession, invest in the development and the training of our people in order to continue delivering the high quality of services that investors and clients are used to".

Also, he added that "On top of technology, soft skills have equal importance in today's era since our people should be able to communicate correctly and pass the right message and information to the clients. Above that, leadership skills and compliance knowledge is also important with all the transformations that are taking place in the industry. We need knowledgeable professionals who understand and implement the legislative framework correctly while offering top-notch services to our clients."
