Royal Caribbean’s ‘Odyssey of the Seas’ arrives at Limassol Port

One of the largest cruise ships in the world recently entered Cyprus’ waters, giving thousands of passengers onboard the opportunity to experience the cosmopolitan city of Limassol.

‘Odyssey of the Seas’ then set sail from Limassol port on its ongoing journey to the Greek Islands and Italy, following its summer itinerary for 2023 in Europe.

The cruise ship was welcomed by journalists across Cyprus who had the opportunity to board the game-changing ship holding nearly 5,000 passengers.

Bar-raising, gravity-defying, game-changing: that’s how Royal Caribbean describes Odyssey of the Seas, the latest ship in its adrenaline-fuelled, packed-full-of-fun fleet. Excited? You should be.

Royal Caribbean are the masters of adventure, revolutionaries of fun, and creators of ships that push the boundaries of what you ever thought might be possible at sea. Odyssey of the Seas takes things up a notch yet again with all-new features that throw the fun factor sky-high.

The cruise ship features never-before-seen adventures, cuisines, and unforgettable onboard experiences. Guests can reach new heights in RipCord by iFLY and North Star, which are exclusive Royal Caribbean thrills that allow guests to literally float on air. Odyssey of the Seas' dining options are endless, offering all of the cuisines you crave, from picnic-style deli to sushi and sashimi! Royal Caribbean is a cruise line for the whole family, and the epic Odyssey of the Seas offers more bar-raising activities than ever before.

Odyssey of the Seas boasts many innovations including the next-generation SeaPlex; the largest indoor active space at sea which includes a full-size basketball court and bumper cars.

Royal Caribbean cruisers are spoiled for choice on ‘Odyssey of the Seas’ when it comes to food and drink. There’s a plethora of eateries for the tasting and there isn’t an appetite they don’t quite cover; we’re talking grab-and-go Mexican snacks at El Loco Fresh, Manhattan steakhouse-style meats and music and Chop’s Grille, an opportunity to disappear down the rabbit hole at an Alice-inspired Wonderland. Izumi appeals to sushi fiends, while Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar is all about those indulgent days when only a huge bowl of pasta and a bottle of good red wine will do.

In addition to a variety of dining options, there's a vibrant, two-level pool deck, the RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator, and dedicated kids and teen spaces that offer interactive, personalised experiences.

During his presentation of the ship, CEO of the only cruise specialist in Cyprus, Century Travel Group and cruise.com.cy, Daniel Essex, noted the benefits of cruising for Cypriot travellers, explaining that a cruise lets you experience all of the destinations you’ve always dreamed of and discover new treasures along the way. For example, you may be struggling to choose between Venice, Rome or Florence. If you pick the right cruise, you don’t have to decide — you can sample them all. One of the best parts about cruising is being able to easily explore several destinations on one trip.

Essex also noted that it is forecasted that cruise passenger numbers this year will not only meet but exceed pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2023.
