CSM wins SAFETY4SEA Crew Welfare Tanker Operator Award

Limassol-based Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM) has won the 2023 SAFETY4SEA Crew Welfare Tanker Operator Award.
Its President and CEO Mark O'Neil proudly received the award on behalf of the company’s Chairman, Captain Heinrich Schoeller, and the Board of Directors of the Columbia Group.

He stated: “The most important differentiator between a successful company and an unsuccessful company is the quality of its people. People are at the very epicentre of what we do here at the Columbia Group, and how well we do it. So nothing is, therefore, more important to us than the welfare of our people, the welfare of our amazing crew on board our vessels.”
Announcing the news, Columbia Shipmanagement said: “We would like to thank our crew for their ongoing dedication and hard work on board our vessels, and we will continue nurturing a happy, well-trained and well-taken-care-of workforce.”

The SAFETY4SEA awards focus exclusively on initiatives and individuals who foster Safety Excellence & Sustainable Shipping, following a combination of open nomination and audience-vote.

SAFETY4SEA said Columbia Shipmanagement received the 2023 Crew Welfare Tanker Operator Award for investing in crew training to create a loyal and happy workforce, and boost their morale and wellbeing. The 1,700m2 training centre allows CSM to tap into state-of-the-art simulators, holograms and webinar technology to bring together the highest quality in-person and online seafarer training.

CSM works with its partners OneCare Solutions, Mental Health Support Solutions and MCTC to ensure crews are being served nutritious meals, give them access to 24/7 mental health support and offer various health and fitness initiatives.

Columbia’s partnership with Adobe and OneLearn Global for the creation of industry leading e-Learning and internet-based Learning Management System is the greatest benefit and tool for its employees.

Additionally, CSM upholds distinguished Cadet Programs where they are given world-class training needed to become successful marine officers and engineers. CSM is a firm believer in the power of digitalisation and leads the way in innovative technologies.
