The top-selling hybrid and electric vehicles as demand in Cyprus speeds up

Hybrid and electric vehicle registrations accounted for 30% of total saloon car registrations in the first quarter of this year, continuing to increase their momentum in the local car market.

Sponsorship schemes for the purchase of electric vehicles, and also buyers’ shift to hybrid models have contributed to the increase in both market shares.

Hybrid vehicles

Of the 10,546 cars registered between January and April, 2,806 were hybrid.

Toyota registered a clear lead, with 1,026 registrations, with Nissan following, with 212.

BMW is ranked third (153), Hyundai is fourth (139), while Renault (130) is also in the top five.

Rounding out the rest of the top ten for hybrid saloon car registrations are Honda (122), Kia (98), Mercedes (84), Land Rover (72) and Volvo (71).

Brands such as Lexus (70), Suzuki (68) and Audi (65) were also very close behind.

Electric vehicles

Registrations of electric saloon cars reached 232 in the first four months of 2023.

In first place, by a small margin, is BMW, with 39 registrations.

The relevant list also includes the brands Porsche (23), Mercedes (22), Hyundai (20), Audi (20), Volkswagen (18) and Toyota (13).
