Thanos Patrikis appointed General Manager of VTT Vasiliko Ltd

VTT Vasiliko Ltd (VTTV) has announced the appointment of Thanos Patrikis as its new General Manager, effective 1 March 2023. Patrikis takes over from his predecessor George Papanastasiou, following his appointment as Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry.

Thanos Patrikis is a Chemical Engineer with an M.Sc. and an MBA. He brings a wealth of experience in Technical and Commercial fields and was a key VTTV management team member as Commercial Director for the last four and a half years. He has previously worked for various multinational companies such as Coca-Cola HBC and BP, holding a variety of senior positions in countries in Europe, Middle East, and Far East.

VTTV is a 100% subsidiary of the VTTI B.V. group based in Rotterdam, one of the world's fastest-growing companies in the storage and handling of energy and chemical products, with 17 terminals in 15 countries, offering over 10 million cubic meters of capacity. VTTV is located in the area of the Vasiliko Energy Center and is one of the largest terminals for storage and handling of energy products in the broader Eastern Mediterranean region. Operating since November 2014, it has been the biggest foreign direct investment in the energy sector in Cyprus, worth 300 million Euros, with 28 storage tanks and a proprietary jetty boasting four berthing positions for tankers.

Jose Luis Garcia, the Executive Vice President of Operations of the VTTI Group, expressed his confidence that the new General Manager, supported by the management team and the rest of VTTV's personnel, is in an ideal position to lead the terminal through its next phase of corporate growth. He also emphasized the importance of VTTV's terminal in Cyprus for the VTTI Group, given its strategic location in Eastern Mediterranean and the potential opportunities for development in this dynamic region.

Referring to his appointment, Thanos Patrikis said: "It is a great honour but also a great responsibility to be at the helm of one of the largest and most important companies operating in Cyprus. I will do my best to meet the expectations that VTTV maintains its leadership role in the energy sector in the Eastern Mediterranean, always focusing on sustainable growth, with respect for the environment and support for the local communities, while aiming for business development through the energy transition to greener forms of energy."
