Macron and Christodoulides to meet next week in Paris

President Nikos Christodoulides and French counterpart Emmanuel Macron will meet at the Élysée Palace in Paris next week, to discuss the Cyprus problem, international and EU issues, as well as the two countries' bilateral relations.

Christodoulides will pay Paris a visit before heading to the UK to attend the formal coronation ceremony for King Charles III, which will take place on 6 May.

According to the French Embassy in Nicosia, Christodoulides' first visit to Paris is a follow up of the discussion that the two Presidents had briefly on the side-lines of the last European Council meeting.

The two Presidents will have a working lunch, where they will discuss the details of President Christodoulides' ideas to break the deadlock and enable a return to the negotiating table on the Cyprus problem, the Embassy said.

Moreover, it said Macron and Christodoulides will touch upon key issues of the international and the EU agenda, such as the war in Ukraine. They will also have the chance to review the excellent bilateral partnership between France and Cyprus, including matters of defence cooperation and education.
