Harmonised inflation at 6.1% in March

Harmonised inflation rose by 6.1% in March this year on an annual basis, according to Cystat.

The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices rose by 6.1% between March 2022 and March 2023, and by 1.3% in the month between February 2023 and March 2023.

For the period January - March 2023, the HICP rose by 6.5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Compared to March 2022, the largest changes were noted in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (15.5%) and Restaurants and Hotels (9.1%).

Compared to February 2023, the largest change was recorded in category Clothing and Footwear (9.7%).

For the period January - March 2023, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the largest changes were noted in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (17.4%) and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (9.0%).

As for economic origin, the largest change when compared to the index of March 2022 was recorded in Energy (10.3%).

Compared to the index of the previous month, the largest change was monitored in category Non energy industrial goods (3.2%).
