International university students visit Eurogate’s facilities at Limassol Port

Students from various US academic institutions were given a tour of Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol’s facilities in February, during a visit to Cyprus under the US Institute of Shipboard Education’s Semester at Sea programme.

The programme allows students from various US academic institutions and different fields of study to spend the spring semester travelling around the world by ship. They visit various ports of call around the world, participate in tours and attend seminars and presentations by companies and organisations active in various sectors, depending on their specific field of study.

Eurogate welcomed the students at its premises and presented its activities at Limassol port’s container terminal, while students had the opportunity to ask questions as part of the “Leading High-Performance Teams” module. They were also able to observe the services and operations of a contemporary terminal that handles 90% of Cyprus’ imports and exports first-hand.

In statements, Cpt. George Pouros, Operations Director of Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol Ltd, highlighted the importance that the company attaches to educational programmes that allow it to host and interact with students and pupils. Cpt. Pouros added that “the expertise and know-how of Eurogate’s employees is always at the disposal of students, researchers, and pupils. These types of synergies allow the academic community to connect with the real job market, while giving further impetus to the maritime sector, marine and maritime professions, and trade”.
