31 March premiere for English-language theatre production ‘Just Tell Them Santa’s Dead’

A theatrical play ‘Just Tell Them Santa’s Dead’ headed by Thadd Correia, premieres in theaters in Nicosia and Limassol from 31 March.

Correia is a Canadian citizen working as a director, actor, speaker and activist in Cyprus since 2007 ('The Vagina Monologues' 2010; 'The Wizard of Strovoloz' 2013; TEDx Nicosia 2016). He currently works as the head of the Theatre Department at a private school in Nicosia.

According to an announcement on 'Just Tell Them Santa's Dead,' Correia has written this original series of one acts, attempting to reclaim and modernize themes explored by classical playwrights such as Shakespeare, Euripides and Sophocles.

Featuring a balanced cast of characters that include LGBTQ+ and minority representation, these pieces are an important contribution to the Cypriot theatrical milieu in which LGBTQ+ and minority communities are still either under or inappropriately represented.

These one acts are, fundamentally, tragedies. Like Medea, Hamlet and Oedipus, a series of fated events and/or their own actions lead the characters and the audience down dark paths where the audience is invited to question the morality of the characters’ actions and our role in guarding, challenging or changing traditional societal values, the announcement adds.

Performances will take place at Theatro Dentro in Nicosia on 31 March and 1 April and on 7 and 8 April at the Synergeio Performing Arts Centre in Limassol.

Tickets are available at SOLD OUT TICKETS.
