Alphamega Hypermarkets holds biggest-ever Christmas tree lighting ceremony (pics)

Christmas is the season to spread joy, warmth, love and empathy. Christmas is also a time to love and mainly to share.

For yet another year, Alphamega Hypermarkets welcomed this celebration of love and the most beautiful and joyous season of the year, with a series of events dedicated to both children and adults alike.

On Saturday, 25 November, six of the chain’s stores put up their holiday decorations, and got everyone in the Christmas spirit, through simultaneous Christmas Tree lighting ceremonies.

Signalling the start of the holiday season, the Alphamega Hypermarkets in Engomi, Acropolis, Lakatamia, Larnaca Central, Kapsalos and Paphos Aphrodite, gave customers in attendance the opportunity to enjoy carefree moments, filled with wonderful aromas, flavours, melodies, laughter and a happy, festive mood.

With Mix FM’s radio producers providing the soundtrack to the events, through simultaneous Live Links at all six stores, a vibrant and energetic atmosphere was created from early on in the afternoon. Santa Claus and his elves could not be missing from the celebration, giving away presents and spreading joy to our younger visitors.

Festive arts and crafts, face painting, interactive games, delicious treats and gifts also attracted the interest of the children, who are arguably the principal focus of every Christmas. At the same time, however, grown-ups also had the opportunity to enjoy wonderful moments, through delicious treats, free cocktails, and exquisite desserts, offered by a number of caterers. The events featured various things to do and see, such as a live dance performance by Panthers Dance Studio, but also a unique experience by the Paradox Museum, at the Engomi hypermarket.

At the same time, attendees had the opportunity to actively support Hope for Children, by making a donation or by buying the Nepal bracelets that were available onsite – the proceeds from which will go towards supporting the organisation.

It should be noted that attendees of the Engomi event had the opportunity to watch a live stream of all the other tree-lighting shows happening in the chain’s stores in Acropolis, Lakatamia, Larnaca Central, Kapsalos and Paphos Aphrodite.

In fact, as part of the event, the company presented its Christmas TV advert for this year, reminding us that Alphamega knows how to celebrate Christmas for children and adults alike. The main lead of the commercial is a child who takes us on a journey, with his imagination, to the Christmas of his dreams. He imagines himself decorating the Christmas tree the way he wants, he makes kourabiedes, he cooks and prepares the festive table. Throughout the video, he faces a number of cheeky obstacles that make his preparations more difficult, but make us, the adults, nostalgic for our childhood, as well as happy and excited for the upcoming holiday season.
