Ambassador of Israel: “Cyprus today is of strategic importance to Israel”

Israel’s Ambassador to Cyprus Oren Anolik was a guest on the LegalMatters podcast, where he spoke about a broad range of issues, from what led him to become a diplomat to how he believes the Hamas attack has changed the Israeli people’s mindset forever.

A father of three, Anolik talks about what It’s like to have a 21-year-old – 1.85m – daughter in the army and currently stationed just 16km from Gaza and says the country is currently “in a state of war”.

On his appointment in Cyprus, Anolik says this was his first post as an ambassador and that he has been very busy "from my first day here". According to the ambassador, with Cyprus being of strategic importance to Israel, there are a multitude of issues to deal with, from energy and trade to security, to health and even culture.
