Hermes Airports: Top honour for Larnaka International Airport at Routes World Awards 2023

Larnaka International Airport received the majority of votes from airlines worldwide in the highly competitive category for airports, with 5-10 million passengers at the Routes World 2023 event in Istanbul.

As a result, Larnaka International Airport received top honour among other international airports of the same category, according to an announcement from Hermes Airports, which manages and controls the two International Airports of the Republic of Cyprus.

The Routes Awards take place annually in different cities of the world, that host this unique event, as the voting and decision process for the nominations is completely up to the airlines – judges, who evaluate the strategy and various initiatives that an airport develops to improve connectivity and communication with the aviation industry. In the same category as Larnaka Airport, other nominees were airports in Krakow, Tampa (Florida), Edmonton (Canada), and Kansai (Japan).

Larnaka airport’s nomination at the Routes World Awards, which gathered more than 3,000 professionals of airports and airlines, has been praised by airlines – judges, which focused on the significant development and recovery of passenger traffic recorded in Cyprus, the new incentives scheme for airlines which was presented last November, the relations with other tourism stakeholders and certainly Hermes Airport’s role as a crucial tourism stakeholder.

Maria Kouroupi, Senior Manager of Aviation Development and Communication of Hermes Airports, stated, “We are greatly honoured and thrilled that Larnaka International Airport was voted the best airport in its category, at the largest global meeting of airports and airlines, receiving the universal recognition of our partners. This first-place achievement is a strong motivation for us to continue working tirelessly to enhance our country’s connectivity. We warmly thank all our airline partners for their votes and trust, reaffirming that with dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism, we will carry on our joint effort.”
