Why Cyprus Business Leaders Should Be Asking Better Questions About AI

What could AI actually change in your business? That is the question at the centre of AI in Practice: Changing the Future of Business, an executive evening for founders, business owners, CEOs and senior executives. It takes place on Monday, 19 October 2026, at European University Cyprus in Nicosia, organised by Panis.News in collaboration with GrantXpert Consulting and the Future Skills Hub.

Every week at GrantXpert Consulting, we speak with business leaders across Cyprus who are planning their next move, whether that means a new project, a funding application or training for their teams. AI now comes up in almost every one of those conversations. Most leaders know they need to act. Far fewer know where to start.

That is why we are proud to be co-organisers of this vital event.

“Buying a subscription takes minutes. Working out where AI belongs in your business takes real thought about your customers, your processes and your people,” said Dr Celia Hadjichristodoulou, Founder and Managing Director of GrantXpert Consulting. “Businesses that ask the right questions now will be better placed to compete, and to seize new opportunities, over the next few years. We wanted to give leaders in Cyprus a room where those questions get practical answers.”

Why this conversation matters now

AI is already changing how teams work, how decisions get made and how customers expect to be served. The risk for many businesses is not moving too slowly on technology. It is choosing tools before defining the problem they need to solve. We believe the first question should always be:

What problem are you trying to solve?

The evening is built around that principle and approaches it from three directions:

  • Monica Odysseos, Head of the AI and Data Lab at Grant Thornton Cyprus, opens with a question that deserves a clear answer: why should you care? Her session explores how AI is changing the way people work, make decisions and create.
  • George Malekkos, CEO of POWERSOFT Computer Solutions and President of CITEA, shows how real business problems can become the starting point for AI adoption, from selecting useful applications to preparing teams and measuring results.
  • Paris Thomas, Executive Advisor on AI and Strategy to Fortune 500 companies, closes with the keynote AI and the Future of Business: Will Your Business Be Here in 2030? His session includes live AI demonstrations and enterprise case studies.

The programme also features a welcome note from Demetris Skourides, Chief Scientist of the Republic of Cyprus, and a Q&A with the speakers. Drinks and bites follow, giving guests time to meet the speakers and other business leaders.

Why you should join us

You will leave with sharper questions, practical frameworks and a clearer view of where to act first. You will also meet other decision-makers facing the same challenge, which is often where the most useful conversations happen.
