The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Cyprus stood at 4.1% in August 2026, up from 4.0% in July, according to data published by Eurostat on Thursday.
At the same time, the number of unemployed people in Cyprus was estimated at 22,000 in August, compared with 21,000 in July. In August 2025, the unemployment rate in Cyprus stood at 4.2%, while the number of unemployed people was also 22,000.
Eurostat data show that the unemployment rate in Cyprus stood at 3.8% in May 2026 and 3.9% in June.
As regards unemployment among young people under the age of 25 in Cyprus, the youth unemployment rate stood at 11.9% in June, while in August 2025 it had stood at 13.0%.
Regarding unemployment by sex in Cyprus, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for men stood at 3.7% in August 2026, unchanged from July and down from 4.0% in August 2025. Among women, the unemployment rate rose to 4.5% in August, from 4.3% in July, while in August 2025 it had also stood at 4.5%.
Across the EU, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 6.1% in August 2026, unchanged from July and up from 6.0% in August 2025. In the euro area, unemployment remained at 6.4%, compared with 6.3% a year earlier.
