The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is ranked 501–550 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, placing it among the top roughly 24% of the 2,297 universities included in the ranking.
CUT reports that the university has moved up on the international academic map, from the 501–600 band where it was placed last year. "This marks the highest category CUT has achieved in this ranking since 2021, and is among the most prominent and widely recognised global university rankings. This year’s result is particularly significant given the increased international competition, with 2,297 universities included in the ranking, up from 2,191 last year," the announcement says.
As noted, CUT's improved performance is also reflected in its overall score, which has increased compared to the previous year, with the university improving in four out of the five assessment pillars.
According to the announcement, the greatest progress is recorded in the “Research Environment” pillar, while performance also improved in the “Industry” and “Research Quality” pillars. In the latter, CUT achieves a particularly high score of 78.2, placing it 384th globally. Performance in the “International Outlook” pillar remains at a high level and shows further improvement.
The announcement states that this new success in an internationally recognised ranking enhances the university’s visibility and reputation, highlighting the work being carried out in research, internationalisation, and engagement with society and the economy, while further strengthening CUT's outward orientation and presence in the global academic arena.
