The Board of Directors of Logicom Public Limited has decided on the appointment of Anthoulis Papachristoforou, until now Group Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Managing Director of the Group, to the position of CEO.
Undertaking particular responsibility for the Technology and Information Technology sectors, Papachristoforou's new position comes into effect from today, Thursday, 24 September, a day after the 23 September decision in the context of a reorganisation of the Group's top executive management.
Papachristoforou, an executive member of the Board of Directors since 2013 and an executive of Logicom since 2001, will be responsible for the daily management of the company and its subsidiaries in the Technology and Information Technology sectors, and will report to the Executive Vice President, Varnavas Irinarchos.
Varnavas Irinarchos, until now Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, continues as Executive Vice-Chairman, with responsibility for the Group's strategy which includes, among others, the Group's strategic projects, investments and participations, including the investment in Demetra Holdings Plc, and desalination.
For the smooth transfer of duties, a transitional period will follow that will not exceed six months, during which Irinarchos will work closely with Papachristoforou.
The position of the Group's CFO will be filled through a selection process that will commence immediately, under the responsibility of the Appointments Committee of the Company's Board of Directors, and is expected to be completed before the end of the above transitional period. Until the appointment of the new CFO, Papachristoforou will also maintain oversight of the Group's financial management. The Company will make a relevant announcement once the selection is complete.
Who is the new CEO?
Anthoulis Papachristoforou joined Logicom in 2001 as the Group's Chief Financial Officer, was appointed to the Board of Directors in November 2013 and assumed the duties of Deputy Managing Director in August 2017.
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance from the London South Bank University, and a Degree in Business Studies from the Institute of Commercial Management in Bournemouth, UK.
Papachristoforou is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC). Prior to joining Logicom, he worked as an auditor with Grant Thornton in Cyprus from 1992 to 1994 and held the position of Coordinator of Corporate Planning and Control at Esso Cyprus Inc. from 1994 to 2001.
