Safety, security and prosperity in Cyprus-US relations and developments in the Eastern Mediterranean were among the issues highlighted by the new US Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus, John Breslow, following his meeting with President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides on Tuesday.
Speaking after the meeting, Breslow said he and President Christodoulides had a “wonderful meeting.”
“We talked about the great cooperation that the United States and Cyprus have and all the projects that we're doing”, he said.
He also noted that safety, security and prosperity between the two countries, as well as developments in the Mediterranean, were major priorities.
Breslow said he was “extremely happy to be the Ambassador to Cyprus” and looked forward to working with President Christodoulides on future engagements.
According to sources, the President and the Ambassador also discussed issues concerning the visa waiver programme, energy, including the presence and activities of two major US companies in Cyprus, as well as mutual cooperation in other areas including trade and security.
The sources said Breslow is also expected to visit Andreas Papandreou Air Base in Paphos, which is undergoing expansion with US funding to accommodate heavy-lift transport aircraft and support emergency or humanitarian missions.
