The importance of engaging with young people in dialogue on technology, innovation and digital transformation was highlighted by Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Dr Nicodemos Damianou during an open discussion with young people at UCLan Cyprus in Larnaca.
The 25 August discussion was held as part of the 20th National Conference of the European Parliament Youth Cyprus.
The country’s digitalisation progress, the opportunities created for young people through the development of innovation and the technology sector, as well as issues of particular concern to the younger generation, including the protection of minors online, were among the topics discussed.
Referring to the discussion, Damianou said it focused on technology, digitalisation and innovation, noting that these areas are now part of everyday life and the future.
On her part, President of European Parliament Youth Cyprus Marilena Spyrou said the conference focuses on sustainable development and a sustainable Europe. She also expressed her satisfaction with the support from political figures who, she said, play an important role in the legislative process.
