Andreas Hadjiadamou: School supplies prices at supermarkets are stable, with options for every budget

The prices of school supplies in supermarkets have remained at stable levels this year, said the head of the Cyprus Supermarkets Association, Andreas Hadjiadamou has said, adding that there are options for every need and wallet.

Asked by CNA whether increases have been recorded, Hadjiadamou responded in the negative, saying that, unlike other product categories in which upward pressures are observed, supermarkets are taking care to keep the prices of school supplies stable.

As he explained, in recent years supermarkets have strengthened their partnerships with suppliers and are carrying out their own imports, so as not to depend exclusively on markets in which price pressures may arise.

He stated that, according to a survey conducted by the Association in the market in recent days, large, medium and small supermarkets have the necessary school supplies in sufficient quantities and, as he said, "at the best possible prices."

Hadjiadamou noted that the school bag is the product the greatest demand, followed by other school supplies, including notebooks and stationery.

He added that the range of products in supermarkets has expanded significantly, to cover both consumers who choose low or medium-priced items and those looking for more expensive options.

"We make sure there are options for every need and every budget," he said, pointing out that greater emphasis is placed on serving the majority of consumers, who are looking for mid- or lower-priced products.

He also mentioned that some supermarkets have already announced offers, while consumers can take advantage of loyalty cards and other reward programs.

In conclusion, Hadjiadamou said that, while in the past school supplies were mainly available from specialised stores and large supermarkets, today reinforced departments also operate in small and medium-sized supermarkets, offering, as he mentioned, greater variety and more choices.
