Relations between Cyprus and France are at their highest level ever, the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus said, noting that the two countries’ historic relationship has now been upgraded to a “strategic partnership, with specific policies and tangible results.”
In a post on X, the Cyprus Presidency said cooperation between the two countries is “multifaceted and multi-level” and continues to evolve, with a focus on Defence and Security, Energy, Connectivity, Education and Culture.
It also said Cyprus and France share “a common approach to Europe’s role in the world and the need to strengthen its strategic autonomy”.
The Presidency further noted that the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries “has been demonstrated in practice, for the benefit of Cyprus and France, the European Union and the wider region”.
The post is accompanied by a video featuring meetings between President Nikos Christodoulides and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris in December 2025 and in Nicosia in June 2026.
