The Cyprus branch of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) has received hundreds of applications from candidates to study at its academic units, as announced by the University, noting that one in five candidates has been accepted for a position at the Medical School.
According to the NKUA announcement, the acceptance rate to the Medical School (20%) was formed after a thorough and demanding evaluation process. "Obtaining a place was a real academic battle between the candidates, with the selection being made according to strict criteria of quality and academic proficiency, with the most excellent male and female candidates ultimately receiving a place in the top Medical School," it is noted, among other things.
"The same philosophy is being followed in all academic units with very high interest from male and female students and hundreds of applications," the NKUA says, adding that the Department of Primary Education, the Department of Business and Organizational Administration, the Department of Economics, the Department of Psychology, the Department of Nursing and the English-speaking program of Archaeology, History and Literature of Ancient Greece (Department of Classics), are proceeding with the final evaluation of the many applications, with a highly selective approach.
At the same time, the announcement notes that "the professors who teach at the Branch are the same ones who teach at the corresponding parent Departments and Faculties of the National University of Athens, while invitations have already been made to attract high-level Professors with an exclusive presence at the Branch's Faculties."
"The facilities and laboratories have been completed with state-of-the-art equipment and are located in the heart of the old city of Nicosia, adding dynamism to a historic part of the Cypriot capital," the NKUA says.
At the same time, it points out that "special care has been taken by the University, in collaboration with local bodies and the Municipality of Nicosia, to facilitate student life."
"Access to newly built student dormitories has been ensured, on particularly privileged financial terms, so that finding housing does not constitute an additional obstacle for students and their families. At the same time, provision has been made for feeding students on particularly favorable terms, essentially strengthening the overall framework for supporting the student community," the announcement states.
