Encouraging signs are being recorded for passenger traffic at Larnaca and Paphos airports, as the recovery that began in previous months continued in July, despite challenges that continue to affect the wider region.
According to Hermes Airports figures, a total of 1,635,055 passengers travelled through the two airports in July 2026, with the difference compared with the same month in 2025 limited to just -1 per cent.
The picture at Paphos Airport is particularly positive, recording a 7 per cent increase compared with July last year. This development reflects the strengthening of the airport's connectivity and the expansion of travel options offered to passengers.
The overall picture for the year is also improved. For the period January–July 2026, the difference compared with the corresponding period in 2025 has been reduced to -3.7 per cent, boosting optimism for the course of passenger traffic in the remaining months of the year.
According to the latest forecasts, provided geopolitical conditions in the region remain favourable, passenger traffic in 2026 is expected to close at levels 3 per cent to 5 per cent lower than in 2025.
The most important markets for the period January–July 2026 were recorded as follows: United Kingdom (23%), Greece (17%), Israel (10%), Poland (9%), Germany (5%), Romania (3%), Austria (3%), Armenia (3%), Italy (2%) and Hungary (2%).
It is worth noting that comparisons are being made with 2025, which was the best year in the history of Cyprus airports in terms of passenger traffic.
Despite the challenges, Cyprus's air connectivity remains strong, with 54 airlines operating flights to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports, connecting Cyprus with 165 destinations in 42 countries.
