The High Commissioner of India to Cyprus, Manish, hosted an interactive session with members of Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY, during which they discussed ways to deepen ties between Cyprus and India, as well as the future of entrepreneurship and emerging opportunities.
In a LinkedIn post, the High Commissioner said the main theme of the discussion was “Cyprus and India: The Next Decade – Entrepreneurship, Mobility and Human Connections”.
In his presentation, he outlined the bilateral political and economic momentum that has produced key outcomes shaping the strategic partnership between the two countries, the role the island can play as India’s strategic gateway to the EU, and achievements in the financial and technological sectors. “We also discussed in detail the future of entrepreneurship and opportunities for Cypriot entrepreneurs and recommended some partnership models,” High Commissioner Manish said.
On mobility, the Cyprus Youth Diplomacy group discussed India’s demographic advantages, which, according to the High Commissioner, “are obvious” and will have global implications, noting that India’s manpower can bring “strategic advantages to Cyprus”.
“In this context, the rationale for having a Mobility Partnership Agreement, underpinned by a robust Social Security Agreement,” he added.
Concluding, he said that “human connections are the heart of any relationship, and as the business, mobility and cultural connections grow, it is logical to invest in people-to-people ties through culture, education and tourism.”
