Before you fly: Useful tips ahead of your summer travels through Cyprus' airports

Summer is synonymous with getaways, new experiences and, of course, air travel. Knowing about the services and tools available can make every journey more comfortable, better organised and more enjoyable.

At the airports in Larnaca and Paphos, the travel experience begins long before boarding and continues until arrival. Here are some useful tips worth knowing before your next trip.

Chatbot: Your Personal Travel Assistant, Available 24/7

Wondering which gate your flight departs from?

Want to know when check-in opens or whether your flight has been delayed?

Need information about lost property, parking facilities or other airport services?

The Hermes Airports chatbot is available around the clock, providing instant answers to questions covering every stage of your journey.

It also offers real-time flight updates, including notifications when check-in opens, baggage drop-off information, boarding gate details, flight arrival times at Cyprus airports and baggage reclaim belt information.

The chatbot can be accessed easily via the airports' website or through the official Cyprus Airports social media accounts on Messenger, X and Viber.

Flight Search Tool: Find Your Next Destination with a Click

If you're still planning your next trip, the upgraded Hermes Airports Flight Search Tool can be particularly useful.

With a single search, travellers can explore all available flight options to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports, whether direct services or routes with connecting flights. The tool allows users to compare travel options easily and links directly to airlines' websites to complete their booking.

Water: Refill Your Bottle and Reduce Plastic Waste

One small step that makes a big difference for the environment is making use of the drinking water refill stations located throughout both airports. Travellers can refill their reusable bottles or flasks at dedicated points in the departures, arrivals and check-in areas, reducing the need for single-use plastic bottles.

This is another initiative aimed at reducing plastic consumption and encouraging more responsible travel habits.

For added convenience, the water refill stations are located in prominent areas throughout the airports in Larnaca and Paphos.

Accessibility: Travel for Everyone, Without Barriers

Comfortable travel should be accessible to everyone. For this reason, Cyprus' airports offer comprehensive assistance services for passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility.

Passengers can pre-book the assistance they require when purchasing their ticket or request support upon arrival at the airport. Dedicated access points, parking spaces close to terminal entrances, assistance during security procedures and specialised changing facilities for people with disabilities are all available. These changing facilities are the first of their kind in Cyprus.

In addition, specially designated Help Points are located at the entrances to the terminal buildings, enabling passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility to request immediate assistance from trained airport staff at the touch of a button.

Hermes Airports also participates in the international Sunflower Lanyard programme, which supports people with non-visible disabilities. Airport staff are trained to recognise the programme's distinctive lanyards and provide assistance whenever required.

Furthermore, the innovative "I Can Fly" programme helps make air travel easier for people on the autism spectrum and their families.

Music: A Unique Welcome Inspired by the Sounds of Cyprus

For visitors arriving on the island, their first introduction to Cyprus now begins through music.

In the arrivals corridors, a specially designed musical experience inspired by Cyprus' four seasons, created by Cypriot composer Aris Antoniades, welcomes passengers with sounds and melodies that reflect the island's unique identity.

The initiative creates an authentic sense of hospitality and connection with the destination from the very first moments after arrival.

Piano: Adding a Creative Note Before Departure

At Larnaka Airport, travellers have the opportunity to add a musical touch to their journey.

A public piano has been permanently installed in the check-in area, inviting visitors of all ages to express themselves through music.

The piano was artistically decorated by renowned Cypriot engraver Hambis Tsangaris, in collaboration with Eleni Panagidou and Stelios Stylianou. The initiative has been implemented in partnership with the cultural organisation Avantgarde.
