Prime Steakhouse at City of Dreams Mediterranean has been honoured for its outstanding wine programme, becoming the first restaurant in Cyprus to be awarded American lifestyle magazine Wine Spectator’s two-glass Best of Award of Excellence in the 2026 Restaurant Awards.
Wine Spectator’s newly revealed list of more than 4,000 restaurants that have earned Restaurant Awards in 2026 has winners from all 50 US states and 87 countries and territories.
As noted in a relevant City of Dreams Mediterranean press release, "The award celebrates the restaurant’s exceptional wine list, which offers wine enthusiasts an outstanding selection of labels from around the world. Carefully curated and thoughtfully paired with the restaurant’s refined culinary offerings, the wine programme elevates the dining experience and creates memorable moments for every visitor."
Best of Award of Excellence recipients display excellent breadth across multiple winegrowing regions and significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation.
"Receiving a Wine Spectator Award is also a testament to the restaurant’s expertly managed wine cellar, as well as its deep understanding of food and wine pairing. The distinction further underlines the restaurant’s commitment to excellence, as Wine Spectator recognised venues are renowned for offering access to rare, premium and well-chosen labels," the press release noted.
City of Dreams Mediterranean Property General Manager Grant Johnson commented, “In many ways, a wine list tells the story of a destination. Here in Cyprus, where vineyards have shaped the landscape and culture for thousands of years, we see wine not simply as a complement to a meal, but as an expression of heritage, craftsmanship, and hospitality. To be recognised by Wine Spectator is especially meaningful because it affirms something we have always believed: that exceptional dining is created through thoughtful details, careful curation, and a genuine sense of place. We are proud that our wine programme brings together some of the world's most celebrated labels.”
Launched in 1981, the Restaurant Awards recognise excellence in restaurant wine service across three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award. Restaurants that earn the Best of Award of Excellence demonstrate a deeper commitment to wine as an integral part of the dining experience.
