Dr Theodoros Evgeniou, Professor at INSEAD, Co-founder of Tremau / Co-founder NoeSysAI, has said that the hope is Europe does not repeat the history of the past 50 years in the new AI technological revolution.
He made the comment during his discussion on ‘Transforming business with AI’ at the Digital Conference ‘Shaping the Next Digital Frontier’ held on Wednesday as part of the Cyprus EU Council Presidency.
He added that the EU missed many of the technological revolutions in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, and that the hope is that it can grow the economy from “disruptive creation.”
Evgeniou pointed out that disruptive creation for the economy means that new actors need to enter the market and disturb the already existing ones.
He said that what is important for the business and Europe is “to keep ambition and persistence to reach a point of acceleration after going through a period of pain.”
Evgeniou closed saying that businesses and Europe need to be prepared to not just sit by during the next technology revolution in AI and should work to not repeat the past 50 years.
