George Shiammas on Skyserv’s new green standards in the ground handling industry

In a short period of time, it managed to establish a strong presence at the airports of Larnaca and Paphos, serving a significant number of airlines and employing more than 400 people. This is Skyserv Cyprus, with George Shiammas as CEO. He refers to the company’s growth path, which has succeeded in strengthening competition in the market by offering competitive prices, attracting several airlines, and upgrading quality standards in ground handling.

“Since 2022, Skyserv (Cyprus) Ltd has reshaped the ground handling landscape by introducing competitive pricing, attracting new airlines, and setting high standards of quality,” Shiammas points out.

Expanding operations and service excellence

Skyserv Cyprus, offers the full range of services, which cover all the operational needs of a flight.  Smiammas refers to Skyserv Cyprus’ strategic investment in sustainability, noting that 88% of its equipment is now fully electric, a choice that, as he stresses, reduces the company’s environmental footprint and sets new standards in the ground handling industry in Cyprus.

Skyserv Cyprus operates at both international airports in Cyprus. In Larnaca, it serves a large number of airlines as the third handling provider, while in Paphos it has established a strong presence, emerging as a leading provider in terms of quality. It employs over 400 people across both airports, creating stable and specialised jobs within the Cypriot market.

“Our services cover the full spectrum of ground handling. These include passenger services at departure and arrival points, check-in and boarding procedures, baggage handling, lost and found services, VIP services, passenger transportation to and from the aircraft, cabin cleaning, as well as full operational flight coordination. At the same time, we support critical processes related to the safe arrival, parking, and departure of aircraft, and we have expertise in air cargo handling for both passenger and cargo flights,” says the CEO.

He adds that the common denominator across all of the above is Skyserv Cyprus’ philosophy: every airline is different, and every solution must be tailored to its needs. Efficiency, safety, and consistency are not just promises -they are daily practice.

Sustainability and future vision

“One of Skyserv Cyprus’ most distinctive features is its strategic decision to invest exclusively in brand-new equipment, with an impressive 88% being fully electric,” Shiammas says, adding that this choice reflects the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and sets new sustainability standards for the industry in Cyprus.

The CEO believes that as passenger traffic figures for 2025 confirm that Cypriot airports are on track for historic records- Skyserv Cyprus is at the heart of this growth. “In this dynamic environment, Skyserv Cyprus is called upon to meet ever-increasing demands-and the data shows it is doing so successfully.”

The position that SKYSERV (CYPRUS) LTD holds today in the Cypriot market is the result of hard work, systematic investment, and a consistent commitment to excellence, Shiammas belives. The trust shown by major airlines is both a vote of confidence and a responsibility, suggests the CEO. In a sector where every detail matters, “it is not enough to simply respond-you must anticipate, organize, evolve, and perform consistently, every day, under all conditions.”

The company’s vision is to remain at the forefront of ground handling in Cyprus, not only through operational performance but through a holistic philosophy that combines excellence, responsibility, innovation, and a people-centered approach. “We aim to be the first choice for our clients, an employer of choice for our people, and an organization that adds real value to the country,” Shiammas says.

In closing, he emphasised that in an era of significant change and increasing demands, reliability, safety, and professionalism are not just competitive advantages -they are prerequisites for trust. “At SKYSERV CYPRUS, we build that trust every day, with consistency, seriousness, and a clear focus on the future, combining the expertise of the Greek market, the strength of the IOGR Group, and a firm commitment to quality, sustainability, and competitiveness,” the CEO says.
