The easyGroup of brands has expanded into the courier, express and parcel (CEP) sector with the launch of easyCourier, choosing Cyprus as the first market for its new venture.
The launch event took place on Thursday at the Vassos Eliades central offices in Nicosia, attended by Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder and owner of easyGroup; Vassos K. Eliades, General Director of Vassos Eliades Ltd, and Christis Plastiras, CEO of easyCourier.
During the event, the company introduced the easyCourier team and outlined its service offering, which includes courier and messenger services, quick commerce, drop shipping, and self-storage solutions.
“easyCourier is the result of a collaboration between Christis Plastiras and Vassos Eliades, who approached me with the idea to expand Svelta Couriers across Europe,” Haji-Ioannou said.
The company leverages proprietary technology developed by Svelta Ltd to provide seamless door-to-door delivery solutions for both individuals and businesses.
Explaining the decision to launch under the easy brand, Haji-Ioannou said “when Christis said he wanted to take over Europe, it was better to be called easyCourier instead of Svelta. With that logo, most people in Europe know exactly what the brand represents. Simplicity and value for money is what people see when they come across the easy group of brands.”
“The fact that Stelios trusts and embraces easyCourier into the easy group of brands is a mark of quality for us and a strong endorsement of the company’s prospects and future plans,” Eliades said.
He thanked Christis Plastiras and the Svelta team for their excellent and productive collaboration over the past year, noting that the company’s innovation, energy and passion were key reasons behind the partnership.
Plastiras said the integration of Svelta Couriers into the easyGroup is “a significant milestone for the company and marks the beginning of a new growth journey.”
“We are proud to be part of one of the most recognisable groups of companies in the continent. We celebrate the proof that a Cypriot company can innovate, develop world-class cutting-edge technology and become the foundation to build a European network,” he added.
He explained that “Svelta is our proprietary software equipped with automation tools, route optimisation and shipment management solutions,” forming the backbone of easyCourier’s operations.
The company also unveiled easyLockers, which will operate as part of the easyCourier group of services, strengthening its last-mile delivery capabilities.
Plastiras added that the company’s core values remain unchanged: “transparency, reliability and trust,” noting that these were the principles on which Svelta Couriers was built and continue to define easyCourier today.
In a social media post, the company said: “We’re proud to bring smarter, faster and friendlier deliveries to the island, now backed by the power of the easy family of brands,” adding that the service offers “from same-day parcels to everyday convenience – we’re here to make delivery… easy.”
Svelta CEO Christis Plastiras had announced in September the closing of a €850,000 funding round backed by angel investors. The collaboration builds on Svelta’s earlier success on Dragons’ Den Greece, where it secured €70,000 in funding.
The event concluded with Haji-Ioannou receiving a symbolic gift, accessed via password through one of the newly introduced easyLockers, highlighting the company’s technology and signature orange branding.
The expansion of easyCourier into Europe, powered by technology developed in Cyprus, highlights the growing role of the island as a hub for innovation. The move underscores how locally built solutions can scale internationally, positioning Cypriot tech as a key driver in shaping competitive, modern logistics networks across the continent.
