"Today we confirmed our strong political will to further strengthen relations between Cyprus and Kazakhstan," President Nikos Christodoulides has said.
In statements during his official visit to Kazakhstan, the first for a President of Cyprus, Christodoulides underlined the significant prospects for cooperation that are being formed at the political, economic and business levels.
As noted in a relevant post by the Presidency on X, "the President of the Republic referred to the new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of investment, financial services, shipping, innovation, digital technology, energy, transport and connectivity, as well as the importance of cooperation with Astana International Financial Centre, while he made particular reference to the start of the direct air connection between Cyprus and Kazakhstan and the establishment of embassies in the two capitals as steps that further strengthen the relations between the two countries."
According to the same post, "The President highlighted the role of Cyprus as a reliable gateway to the European Union and reiterated the support of the Republic of Cyprus in further strengthening relations between the EU and Kazakhstan. Referring to the Cyprus issue, he informed his counterpart of the latest developments and reiterated the readiness to resume negotiations on the basis of the agreed United Nations framework, as well as the importance of full respect for International Law, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states as a foundation for international peace, security and stability."
