Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Michalis Damianos is travelling to Brussels on Tuesday to chair EU Competitiveness Council to take place Thursday.
Damianos will also chair the European Economic Area (EEA) Council on Wednesday, in the framework of the Cyprus EU Presidency.
A Ministry press release says that the Competitiveness Council will hold a policy debate on the Industrial Accelerator Act with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of European industry, including the promotion of low-carbon products and the strengthening of European industrial production.
In addition, EU Ministers responsible for the internal market and industry will examine the proposal for the new European company legal framework of the 28th regime "EU Inc.", which aims to create a single and fully digital regime for setting up and operating companies, valid throughout the EU.
The new form of company to be created will be called "EU inc." and can be set up within just 24 hours, at a maximum cost of 100 euro, via a fully digital platform.
During a working lunch, EU Ministers will hold an informal discussion on the challenges the European chemical industry is faced with, with the participation of industry representatives, the press release adds.
At tomorrow's EEA Council, which is the highest political body for cooperation between the EU and the non-member states of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and meets at ministerial level twice a year, the Ministers will exchange views on the functioning and further strengthening of the EEA Agreement.
A discussion will also take place on the broader economic and geopolitical developments affecting the European market and competitiveness, while Council conclusions will be adopted concerning the EU's relations with the EEA countries.
