Cypriot voters in Brussels turned out steadily, with participation reaching 35% by 1pm Cyprus time, according to official figures from the local polling station.
A total of 205 voters had cast their ballots out of 583 registered voters by the midday break, offering an early snapshot of engagement in what marks a historic first: parliamentary elections being held in the Belgian capital.
The polling station -Cyprus’ only voting centre in Belgium- is operating at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union, located on Avenue de Cortenbergh. Voting began at 08:00 local time and is scheduled to conclude at 17:00, with a scheduled break between 12:00 and 13:00.
The introduction of a polling station in Brussels reflects growing efforts to facilitate electoral participation among Cypriots living abroad, particularly those working within EU institutions and the wider international community.
