The President of the Cyprus Association of Certified Accountants (SELC), Odysseas Christodoulou, and the Acting President of the Cyprus Integrity Forum (CIF), Elena Tanou, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday 7 May, cementing their shared commitment to promote transparency, professional integrity and accountability in Cyprus.
The MoU establishes the framework for a substantial and multi‑level cooperation between the two organisations, focusing on the promotion of business ethics, good corporate governance and the fight against corruption, through joint initiatives and actions aimed at both the professional community and society at large.
Within the framework of this collaboration, the two organisations will proceed with the co‑organisation of educational and awareness‑raising events, such as conferences, seminars, lectures and workshops, with topics covering issues of professional ethics, transparency, whistleblowing, integrity and modern corporate‑governance practices.
At the same time, the MoU provides for the organisation of at least one joint annual event, which will focus on issues of common interest to the members of both organisations, thus strengthening dialogue and cooperation around critical issues of ethics and accountability.
Particular importance is also given to the participation of the Cyprus Integrity Forum in events and initiatives of SELC, through interventions and presentations on issues of integrity and professional ethics.
The MoU further includes activities focused on the new generation and education, through cooperation with universities and secondary‑education schools. These initiatives aim to raise awareness among young people on issues of tax awareness, corruption prevention, ethical behaviour and responsible professional conduct.
In addition, the two organisations agreed to explore opportunities for cooperation with other relevant stakeholders, with the goal of developing broader partnerships that will strengthen the promotion of transparency and integrity in the country.
The cooperation between SELC and CIF is expected to make a substantial contribution to enhancing trust in institutions and to promoting best practices in transparency, responsibility and good governance, highlighting the pivotal role of the professional community in shaping a modern and credible business environment in Cyprus.
