Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nicodemos Damianou said on Wednesday that he held an insightful exchange with Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and chief science and technology adviser to US President Donald Trump.
According to Damianou, the two discussed the transformative impact of artificial intelligence, including how it is reshaping economic growth, public administration and the scaling of innovation. They also exchanged views on Cyprus’s strategy for AI and its ambition to emerge as a regional hub for AI adoption.
Kratsios, who serves as Assistant to the President and the 13th Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, oversees the development and implementation of the US science and technology agenda. His work includes advancing American leadership in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, nuclear energy and biotechnology.
The meeting followed Damianou’s visit to the United States, where he took part in a targeted roundtable discussion with startups and technology companies in Maryland. The event was organised by Invest Cyprus-CIPA in cooperation with fDi Intelligence.
