As Larnaca prepares to welcome one of the most ambitious hospitality projects in Cyprus, we speak with Spyridon Georgakopoulos, the newly appointed General Manager of Palm Beach Resort, a unique luxury destination set to open in early 2027, redefining coastal living in the Mediterranean.
Among other things, Georgakopoulos discusses how, with the Palm Beach Resort, Premium Access Group and its principals Evgeni Leibovich and Shaul Keinan, are aiming to create a landmark destination within the Thanos Group portfolio.
Having relocated here, he also shares his impression of the island, saying, "Cyprus has a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural depth and warm hospitality. There is a strong sense of identity here, combined with a lifestyle that balances energy and ease. You’ve recently arrived from Four Seasons Mauritius to lead Palm Beach Resort. What attracted you to this project in Larnaca?
Palm Beach Resort is a truly rare opportunity. It’s not simply another luxury hotel; it’s a destination built around a very clear philosophy of lifestyle and experience. What attracted me most is the vision to create a place where subtle luxury defines everything, not through excess but through feeling, atmosphere and authenticity. The idea of overwater living, combined with a fully integrated resort experience, is something usually associated with destinations in the Indian Ocean or Southeast Asia. Bringing this to Cyprus, and to Larnaca in particular, is both exciting and meaningful. It is about creating something that feels new yet naturally connected to its surroundings. At the same time, the scale of the project and the ambition behind it, driven by Premium Access Group and its principals Evgeni Leibovich and Shaul Keinan, to create a landmark destination within the Thanos Group portfolio make it especially compelling.
How would you describe the overall concept of the resort?
Palm Beach Resort is designed to awaken the senses, from the sound of the sea and the light throughout the day, to the textures, the spaces and the overall rhythm of the experience. It is a place where guests and residents can shape their own experience, from moments of relaxation to more active, social or adventurous pursuits. The resort will feature overwater suites, a wide selection of restaurants and bars, a state-of-the-art wellness centre, extensive sports and fitness facilities, as well as curated lifestyle experiences such as open-air cinema and events. At the same time, the residential element, with exclusive apartments built over the sea, introduces a new model of sophisticated coastal living in Cyprus.
Who is Palm Beach Resort ultimately designed for?
It is designed for individuals who value quality over excess. People who are well travelled, who have experienced different destinations and are now looking for something more genuine, more balanced and more meaningful. As someone new to Cyprus, what has been your first impression of the island?
I’ve been genuinely impressed. Cyprus has a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural depth and warm hospitality.
