Heads of state and government from across Europe arrived at the Filoxenia Conference Center in Nicosia on Friday morning to kick off high-level discussions.

Talks will focus on the new Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028–2034 amid a shifting geopolitical landscape and escalating regional conflicts.

Leaders will also address the EU's role in crisis response and de-escalation efforts, alongside bolstering European defense and preparedness against emerging threats.

A key highlight is strengthening European solidarity in times of crisis, with particular emphasis on the effective implementation of Article 42.7 of the EU Treaty, the mutual assistance clause.
