The submission of nominations for the Cyprus Parliamentary Elections on 24 May has been set for 6 May.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Dr Elikkos Elia, held a meeting with representatives of political parties, during which matters relating to the Parliamentary Elections on 24 May, 2026 were discussed. According to an official announcement after the meetings, the submission of nominations has been set for 6 May. Nominations for the office of Member of the House of Representatives will be submitted to the respective Returning Officers on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, from 9am until 12.30pm.

It is estimated that approximately 1,200 polling stations will operate for the parliamentary elections, staffed by around 5,300 officials and 1,200 police officers. The exact figures will be known after the finalisation of the supplementary electoral roll of 2 April 2026, its incorporation into the permanent electoral register, and the allocation of voters to the polling stations at which they will vote, the Ministry said.

“Based on the election timetable, on 23 April, 2026 the House of Representatives is expected to take a decision on its early dissolution in accordance with the provisions of Article 67 of the Constitution,” it is noted. The following day, on 24 April, the Minister of the Interior’s Decree for the holding of the elections will be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic. On the same day, the Chief Returning Officer and Assistant Chief Returning Officer, as well as the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers for each electoral district, will be appointed.

It is noted that in the forthcoming Parliamentary Elections, all citizens of the Republic who are registered on the electoral roll have the right to vote. To exercise their voting rights, electors must present either their voter’s booklet or the identity card of the Republic of Cyprus.
