Cyprus is set to be represented in Shanghai from April 16 to 19, 2026, at the inaugural conference of the World Industrial Design Association (WIDA), a newly established international non-profit organisation whose founding membership spans 15 countries.
According to an announcement by Graphic Stories Cyprus, the country’s delegation will include Angeliki Athanasiadi, Founder and Artistic Director of Graphic Stories Cyprus, Lecturer at the American University of Cyprus and Alexander College, and a founding member of WIDA, alongside Miltiadis Karras, Professor of Physics and Robotics, General Coordinator of Graphic Stories Cyprus, and also a founding member of the Association.
Their participation is seen as strengthening Cyprus’ presence in a significant new international institution that brings together representatives from design, education, innovation and industry from around the world.
The programme of the conference will feature the Association’s First General Assembly, meetings focused on its institutional and developmental framework, as well as the International Forum on Industrial Design Innovation. The event aims to highlight the role of design as a tool for international cooperation, progress and sustainable development.
At the same time, their presence underscores the growing international footprint of Graphic Stories Cyprus and contributes more broadly to promoting the Greek and Cypriot creative sectors through engagement in a new global platform centred on design, innovation and the exchange of knowledge.
